Running Stats
Today: 5 miles
Weekly Total So Far (Mon-Sun): 16
I feel like I’m a little behind on mileage, but I guess a day off (Monday) will do that to you! This is a fly-by entry for now. I’ll post a Race Wednesday update later on in the day!
Race Wednesday
What: Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon
Where: Chickamauga, GA
When: Saturday, November 14th
Distance: Marathon, Half Marathon & Jr. Marathon
Cost: ?? (Registration has closed and I don’t see any cost info on their website)
Website: http://www.battlefieldmarathon.com
From their website:
The marathon features two loops in the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, with the start/finish area located at the 6th Cavalry museum located near the park’s visitor’s center.
The mostly paved course is challenging but not extraordinarily difficult. Numerous runners have qualified for the Boston Marathon on this course. Results will be provided to the Boston Athletic Assoc.
Approximately 23 miles of the double loop portion of the course winds through the historic military park. Traffic is usually light in the park. Sentries will be posted at each major turn and all turns will be marked. Each mile and the half marathon point will be marked.
I picked this because it has a great name (Chickamauga? Awesome.) and because I know I’ve heard its a great ‘historic’ marathon to run as the course winds through a beautiful park which honors one of the Civil War’s most important battles. It would probably be my Georgia pick for someone competing in all 50 states!
